Manti is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They are taking a road trip to challenge the Carbon Dinos at 3:00 p.m. Manti is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Manti took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Canyon View, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Templars narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Falcons 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Templars have posted since May 1, 2025.
The team relied heavily on Spencer Robbins, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Porter Daniels also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Carbon got the win against East on Friday by a conclusive 11-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dinos.
Robert Nichols made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Nichols was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other pitching news, Logan Curtis looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Kanyon Grant and Logan Bennett did most of the damage at the plate: Grant went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Bennett went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Bennett a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paxton Falk, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Carbon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Carbon now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Manti, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Manti couldn't quite get it done against Carbon when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 4-0. Can the Templars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
