It was a good run, but the Blake Yellow Jackets unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 70-52 bruising from Leto. Blake was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Leto apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Blake still got an impressive performance from Joe Philon, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Philon hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Kentrell Martin, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Leto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Derek Delgardo, jr led the charge by scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Delgardo, jr is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 13 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Delgardo, III, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Blake's defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-3. As for Leto, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-5.
Blake will take on Brandon at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Brandon is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Leto, they will face off against Sarasota at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Sarasota is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
