Calloway County is 8-2 against Mayfield since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Calloway County Lakers will head out on the road to take on the Mayfield Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Calloway County has seven straight victories, Mayfield has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Calloway County didn't have too much trouble with Marshall County at home as they won 57-40. Calloway County pushed the score to 42-21 by the end of the third, a deficit Marshall County cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Sayler Lowe, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 21 or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaidan Koch, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Mayfield ended up a good deal behind Marshall County on Saturday and lost 56-40. Mayfield has not had much luck with Marshall County recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Calloway County pushed their record up to 21-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Mayfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
Calloway County beat Mayfield 57-47 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calloway County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
