It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Mildred Eagles can now relate to. They fell 22-11 to Bells on Thursday. Despite 96 more yards than Bells, Mildred couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ashton Moore, who picked up 157 receiving yards.
It was another big night for Easton Helgren, who rushed for 174 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Helgren was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.
Another reason for the win was Bells' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Caden King was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Mildred has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Bells, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Mildred does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bells will take on Jacksboro at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Jacksboro is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
