The Cheyenne Desert Shields will venture away from home to take on the Silverado Skyhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cheyenne's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Silverado's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Cheyenne is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Canyon Springs, sneaking past 5-4. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 20, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Raymundo Chevalier was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Silverado waltzed into their matchup two weeks ago with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Bulls as they made off with a 16-1 victory. Considering the Skyhawks have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Giovanni Guariglia and Preston Clark made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Guariglia struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Clark tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Guariglia has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Guariglia got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three runs, while Clark went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI Clark has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Hogan Hawkins was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Silverado is undefeated when Hawkins posts two or more runs, but 6-10-1 otherwise. A.J. Stowers also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Silverado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Cheyenne's record now sits at 19-9. As for Silverado, their record is now 18-10-1.
