The Mehlville Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Central Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Mehlville has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while Central will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Friday, Mehlville had to suffer through a rough 39-7 loss at the hands of Northwest. Mehlville was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Meanwhile, Central can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by Potosi at home to the tune of 57-6. Given Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Potosi is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zai'aire Thomas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 156 yards and two touchdowns, while also catching a touchdown. Thomas' longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. Keyshawn Boyd was another key contributor, rushing for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Mehlville's loss was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. As for Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Mehlville was taken down by Central 62-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Mehlville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
