The Payson Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Summit Academy, posting a 85-53 win at home. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Payson as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Kamika Wesley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Micah Swasey, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Summit Academy still got an impressive performance from Stewart Woodward, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Woodward has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Beau Edmunds was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Payson's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Summit Academy, they have fallen quite a ways from their 20-6 record last season and are now at 6-10.
Payson will be playing at home against Layton Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 68.3 so far this season, Layton Christian Academy's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Payson better be ready for a challenge. Summit Academy will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Rowland Hall at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. Rowland Hall is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
