The Mendota Aztecs and the Strathmore Spartans squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Mendota Aztecs had to settle for second. They fell 14-7 to the Spartans. The low total for Mendota ended their streak of high-flying scores.
Ryan Preciado threw for 108 yards and a touchdown on only six passes. Bernardo Camacho was his top target, picking up 108 receiving yards, while also punching in a rushing scores. On the ground, Donnie Munoz rushed for 65 yards.
It was another big night for Jacob Poole, who rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown for Strathmore.
Mendota's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Strathmore, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.
Mendota does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Strathmore will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. Lincoln has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 241 points over their last five games.
