The Marathon Dolphins suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Monday. They were outmatched by David Posnack Jewish Day at home and fell 73-45. While losing is never fun, Marathon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 710th, while David Posnack Jewish Day is ranked 271st).
Marathon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being YANIEL GARCIA, who scored eight points along with five assists and five rebounds. ADRIAN CRUZ was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two blocks.
Marathon has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for David Posnack Jewish Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marathon's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Key West at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. David Posnack Jewish Day will take on Pine Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
