Glenwood Springs hasn't had much luck against Grand Junction recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Demons will venture away from home to challenge the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Glenwood Springs barely beat Steamboat Springs the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Demons blew past the Sailors 14-6 on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Demons in their matchups with the Sailors: they've now won seven in a row.
Kodiak Welch made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Josh Doll was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Glenwood Springs: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Travis Wagner was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Glenwood Springs lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Grand Junction entered their tilt with Montrose on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Red Hawks with a sharp 22-1 win. Considering the Tigers have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction also got a great game from a two-way player: Andrew Henderson. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Henderson posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kaleb David, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Grand Junction pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Glenwood Springs, their record now sits at 7-4.
Glenwood Springs couldn't quite get it done against Grand Junction when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can the Demons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
