The Hunter Wolverines will venture away from home to square off against the Granger Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Hunter will bounce into Friday's game after beating Kearns, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wolverines claimed a resounding 51-14 win over the Cougars. That looming 51-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wolverines yet this season.

Isi Moungaafi

09/12/25 @ Hillcrest | 2 |
09/19/24 @ Cyprus | 2 |
08/29/25 vs Copper Hills | 1 |
Hunter's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Isi Moungaafi, who rushed for 77 yards and three TDs on only nine carries, and Ridhwan Aweis, who rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Moungaafi a new career-high.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Hunter proved: they limited Kearns to a paltry two yards per carry. While two picked up at least one total tackle, Landon Graham stood above the rest. He picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made one tackle. Hunter's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 2.73 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.6 on average over their last five games.
Meanwhile, Granger had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 26-6 margin over the Pirates. The score was all tied up 6-6 at the break, but the Lancers were the (much) better team in the second half.
Granger's win came from a few key players Hunter will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sunia Fifita, who rushed for 129 yards and one score on only 14 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 12th straight game with at least 105 rushing yards dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateni Puamau, who rushed for 94 yards and one touchdown.
Granger's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB 18 times. Lu Kinikini led the group effort, picking up eight of those sacks all by himself. Moa Havili has become a key player for Granger: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one sack, but 1-2 otherwise.
Hunter's record is now 3-4. As for Granger, their record now sits at 5-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Hunter has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 159.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Granger struggles in that department as they've been averaging 213 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Hunter was taken down by Granger 47-6 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Fifita, who rushed for 188 yards and one TD while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Now that the Wolverines know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
