Last Saturday, Garfield had a bit more than a touchdown to spare in a 27-14 win over Manchester Regional.
After a totally unproductive first quarter, the Garfield offense stepped up its game and put 14 points on the board in the second quarter. Meanwhile, Manchester Regional couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 14-0 heading into the break. Although Garfield wound up losing the second-half battle, they still had enough in reserve to win the war.
Among those leading the charge for Garfield was junior Jay Hawes, who passed for 249 yards and 2 touchdowns.
