Softball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Grapevine

Grapevine won the last time they faced Irving and things went their way on Tuesday too. Grapevine's pitcher stepped up to hand Irving a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Bella MacMahon looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low.

At the plate, Grapevine let Raegan Stanley and Brynn Snyder run wild. Stanley scored a run while going 1-for-1, while Snyder scored two runs while going 1-for-1. Marleigh Sign was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Grapevine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Grapevine and bumps their season record up to 11-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Irving, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-12-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grapevine will head out to square off against Colleyville Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Irving, they will take on Ryan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
