The Harvest Prep Academy Eagle will head out on the road to challenge the Tohono O'Odham Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Harvest Prep Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Harvest Prep Academy earned a 59-49 win over Gila Bend. The victory was all the more spectacular given Harvest Prep Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Gila Bend is ranked 128th).
Leo Cordova was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Harvest Prep Academy's points. Jeremiah Endriga was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Tohono O'Odham had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Skyview with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 50-34. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Tohono O'Odham has managed all season.
The win makes it two in a row for Harvest Prep Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-5. As for Tohono O'Odham, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9.
Harvest Prep Academy came up short against Tohono O'Odham in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 49-42. Can Harvest Prep Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
