Basketball Recap: Purchase Line Drops Season-High Score on River Valley

Purchase Line was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a hard 66-52 fall against the River Valley Panthers. One positive for the Red Dragons, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Purchase Line lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jakob Mountain, who went 8 of 18 en route to 23 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Mountain has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Perruso, who posted 16 points and five rebounds.

It was another big night for Max Persichetti, who went 10 of 20 on his way to 29 points along with eight assists and five boards for River Valley. The matchup was Persichetti's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Nicholas Mortimer was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Purchase Line's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for River Valley, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Purchase Line will welcome Harmony Area at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for River Valley, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the River Valley Panthers take on the Homer-Center Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
