Basketball Recap: Mullins Victorious

Mullins posted their closest win since December 13, 2024 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-58 victory over the Burke Bulldogs.

Deyon Ford produced another solid effort shooting 53% from the field to rack up 19 points and four steals. The game was his fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Dakarai Worley was another key player, putting up four points in addition to nine rebounds and five assists.

Mullins was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are 4-1 when they've passed the ball that well.

Jordan Nelson and Juel Mack certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Nelson went 7-for-15 on his way to 18 points and three steals, while Mack shot 43% from the field en route to 14 points along with six boards and five steals. Burke is 2-1 when Mack posts three or more steals, but 1-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of KJ Butler, who posted eight points.

Mullins now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Burke, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Mullins wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-44 win against South Florence on the 27th. As for Burke, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-44 victory against Fairfield Central on the 27th.
