Softball Recap: Owosso Has No Trouble Against Brandon

While Owosso didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Brandon Blackhawks 15-5 on Thursday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.

Bella Harris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danica Dwyer, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Ady Freeman, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Owosso picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 8-2. As for Brandon, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Owosso will be playing at home against Clio at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Brandon, they will head out on the road to face off against Rochester at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
