Blue Ridge has gone 8-2 against Eastern Mennonite recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Barons are taking a road trip to square off against the Flames at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Blue Ridge made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fishburne Military, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Barons were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Caissons on Thursday. With that victory, the Barons brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Colby White made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Colt Chalmers and Charles Searby did most of the damage at the plate: Chalmers went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple, while Searby scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most hits Chalmers has posted since back in March of 2024. Lawrence Morton also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Blue Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fishburne Military only posted an OBP of .375.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastern Mennonite). They never let Shenandoah Valley Academy get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Flames in their matchups with the Stars: they've now won eight in a row.
Chaysen Curry made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Curry was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Isaac Ott was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mani Babar, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Eastern Mennonite's record is now 2-3. As for Blue Ridge, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.
Blue Ridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Eastern Mennonite in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 16-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Barons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
