After flying high against the Washington Jaguars last Thursday, the Pocomoke Warriors came back down to earth. Pocomoke was dealt a 77-36 loss at the hands of Parkside on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Pocomoke has suffered since December 8, 2023.
Maddie Esham and Donyae Washington certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Esham scored 13 points along with two steals, while Washington dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Washington has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Pham, who scored two points along with three steals.
Parkside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zion Oge out in front who scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Oge has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Diamond Dixon, who scored 21 points.
Pocomoke's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Parkside, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pocomoke won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Crisfield at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Crisfield is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Parkside, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mardela at 4:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Mardela will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Parkside is ranked 53rd).
