The Giles County Bobcats entered their tilt with the Brainerd Panthers with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Giles County took their match at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 34-0 victory over Brainerd. Considering Giles County has won seven matches by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Giles County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kamauri A turner out in front who picked up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Johnny Jackson was another key contributor, rushing for 21 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Giles County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Caleb Oates and his two sacks.
Giles County's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Community and 3-7 Lincoln County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.9% over those games). As for Brainerd, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Giles County has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome McMinn Central at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. One thing working in McMinn Central's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five contests. Brainerd does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
