The Monument Valley Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 90-50 loss at the hands of Green River. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Monument Valley has suffered yet this season.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joshua Hicks, who scored 18 points. Braxton Goodshield was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Green River to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raul Mendoza, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mendoza has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Hernandez, who scored 19 points.
Monument Valley's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-11. As for Green River, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monument Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pinnacle at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Pinnacle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Tuesday. As for Green River, they will be playing at home against Altamont at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Altamont is ranked 134th, while Green River is ranked 114th).
