Sweeny has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Iowa Colony Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sweeny focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Wednesday.
Sweeny suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 97-33 loss at the hands of Stafford. While losing is never fun, Sweeny can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 877th, while Stafford is ranked 101st).
Sweeny's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cameron Alexander, who scored eight points, and Sloan Novak who scored three points.
Iowa Colony posted their biggest victory since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Columbia 87-42 on the road.
Sweeny's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-13. As for Iowa Colony, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-14 record this season.
Sweeny might still be hurting after the 73-49 defeat they got from Iowa Colony when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Sweeny avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
