The Chicago Academy Cougars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 33-32 victory over Ogden International. For Chicago Academy, this counts as revenge for the 44-11 defeat Ogden International walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Leading Chicago Academy to victory were Lizbeth Sanchez and Ariana Avila. Sanchez scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Avila scored six points along with 17 rebounds and three steals. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Avila.
Chicago Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Ogden International, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chicago Academy will take on Phoenix Military at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ogden International, they will head out on the road to face off against Julian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Julian is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
