The Mulberry Panthers will take on the Tenoroc Titans at TBD on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mulberry has five straight victories, the Titans have 24 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mulberry put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Plant City 57-17 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-5.
It was another big night for Lorianys Castanon Cruz, who dropped a double-double on 38 points and 17 steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mulberry's points. Alana Standifer was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Tenoroc took a serious blow against the Panthers on Friday, falling 83-22. While losing is never fun, Tenoroc can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 619th, while the Panthers are ranked 119th).
Mulberry is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for Tenoroc, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15.
Mulberry came up short against the Titans in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, falling 53-41. Can Mulberry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
