The El Monte Lions fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 34-20 win over Mountain View on Thursday. That's two games straight that El Monte has won by exactly 14 points.
Leading El Monte to victory were Alex Aleman and Noah Munoz. Aleman threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes, while Munoz picked up 140 receiving yards and two touchdowns. David Ibarra was another key contributor, rushing for 76 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Despite the loss, Mountain View saw an underclassman step up: Everardo Nunez rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
El Monte's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Mountain View, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season.
El Monte will head out on the road to face off against Gabrielino at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Gabrielino is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Mountain View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South El Monte at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. South El Monte is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
