The Smoky Hill Buffaloes came tearing into Monday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 58-52 W over Skyview. Given Smoky Hill's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 23rd in Colorado, while Skyview is ranked 98th in Washington), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Smoky Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaylan Graham led the charge by scoring 14 points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Torian ray Gasaway, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Smoky Hill's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Skyview, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Smoky Hill's road trip will continue as they head out to face Roosevelt at 8:30 p.m. on December 19th. Roosevelt is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. Skyview will be home for the holidays to greet Davis at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Davis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Skyview likes a good challenge.
