Thomas Becker was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Prince Culpepper was another key player, going 4-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Bodine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .882. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Simon Gratz made easy work of Hill Freedman World Academy two weeks ago and carried off a 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Sabre Bragg, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Aviles, who got two hits.
Simon Gratz pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Bodine, their record is now 7-0.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bodine hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .529. However, it's not like Simon Gratz struggles in that department as they've averaged .625. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
