Nestucca was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Vernonia on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Loggers a 9-0 shutout. Considering the Bobcats have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Owen Love was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Nestucca is undefeated when Love posts two or more runs, but 8-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jace Jensen and Jaxon Jensen did most of the damage at the plate: Jace went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Jaxon went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Jaxon has become a key player for Nestucca: the team is 9-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Hurliman, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

Nestucca's win bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Vernonia, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

Nestucca will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Loggers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
