The El Dorado Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 32 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat ASU Prep Poly 89-56 at home. With El Dorado ahead 47-27 at the half, the game was all but over already.
El Dorado's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mikai Phipps, who scored 39 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Phipps has scored at least 25% of El Dorado's points. Another player making a difference was Kamari Brown, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 11 assists, and 11 steals.
El Dorado pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for ASU Prep Poly, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
El Dorado will head out on the road to face off against BASIS - Peoria at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. ASU Prep Poly will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Canyon State Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
