Paxton is 9-1 against Central since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Paxton Bobcats will look to defend their home court against the Central Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Paxton will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Paxton stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Northview 51-13 at home. With Paxton ahead 37-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Hydie Varnum was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Carson, who scored four points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Central rose to the challenge on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Gators 33-31.
Central relied on the efforts of Lakin Mathews, who scored 13 points along with five steals, and Lily Mathews, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mathews has scored at least a third of Central's points.
Paxton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 14-10.
Paxton came up short against Central in their previous meeting back in January, falling 45-40.
