The Live Oak Eagles will be home for the holidays to greet the Dunham Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Live Oak knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Dunham likes a good challenge.
Live Oak has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 28 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Belaire 64-36 at home. Given Live Oak's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Belaire is ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Live Oak to victory, but perhaps none more so than Clayten Ray, who scored 16 points. Nate Casher iv was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Dunham's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell to St. Thomas More 47-41. Dunham has struggled against St. Thomas More recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Live Oak's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Dunham, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.
Live Oak was able to grind out a solid victory over Dunham when the teams last played back in January, winning 48-40. Does Live Oak have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dunham turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
