The Pearce Mustangs waltzed into their game Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Nimitz by a score of 39-31. Given Pearce's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 356th, while Nimitz is ranked 974th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tatum Vroonland continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Lauren Strange was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Pearce's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. As for Nimitz, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pearce's road trip will continue as they head out to face Irving at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th. As for Nimitz, they will square off against Panther Creek at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Panther Creek is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
