Randolph Southern is headed into Friday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They received a blow on Saturday as they fell 65-50 to Southern Wells.

Despite their defeat, Randolph Southern saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Haileigh Allen, who went 7 of 17 en route to 16 points along with eight boards and five assists, was perhaps the best of all. The game was Allen's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Gerber, who posted seven points.
Allen wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Randolph Southern was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Wells only racked up ten assists.
Meanwhile, Union City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-31 heartbreaker at the hands of Adams Central.
Like Union City, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Gabrielle Ordonez led the charge by putting up nine points and six boards.
Union City's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Randolph Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Randolph Southern has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Union City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Randolph Southern against Union City when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 65-22 victory. Will Randolph Southern repeat their success, or does Union City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
