St. Charles waltzed into their match Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 65-61 W over Roosevelt. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Charles to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tajir Webster, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. The match was Webster's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Shamir Taylor was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Roosevelt lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jawuan Carter. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Carter scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Richard Hall, who scored ten points along with eight steals.
Even though they lost, Roosevelt were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Charles only racked up seven assists.
St. Charles' win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Roosevelt, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Charles will be home for the holidays to greet Friendly at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Roosevelt will be home for the holidays to greet Bard at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Bard is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
