C2 District 2 recap September 17, 2013
Johnson County Central took down Conestoga 47-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jay Kuhns ran for 92 yards and caught 1 passes for 41 yards during the win.
The Thunderbirds made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,142 from 11,909. The improvement came about via a 47-0 victory over the Cougars last week.
Nolan Schafer threw for 172 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 8-16 with 1 interceptions.
Kuhns was the most successful running back in C2 District 2 this week. Teammate Justin Long added to the ground attack by rushing for 82 yards.
Schafer put up the best numbers in passing as Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer lost to Weeping Water. Schafer's favorite target this week was Schafer, who caught 4 passes for 112 yards.
Jacob Starkey made the biggest impact on defense this week as Tri County fell to Centennial. He.
Wyatt Kowalski provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Trojans fell to the Broncos. He completed 11 passes for 177 yards and also ran for 65 yards. Kowalski's key target this week was Starkey, who caught 8 passes for 144 yards.
Starkey was the best receiver in the league this week as Tri County lost to Centennial. Shane Jiskra helped Tri County's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 21 yards.
Brett Scheiding's team's Kowalski and Starkey have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Kowalski has thrown for 228 yards this season, while Starkey has 10 catches for 188 yards. Kuhns from Johnson County Central leads the league in rushing with 273 yards.
Dustin Buggi's team led C2 District 2 in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on Conestoga. Kuhns in the win.
