Ezekiel Academy and Wiregrass are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Knights will venture away from home to take on the Kings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ezekiel Academy has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Ezekiel Academy lost 16-2 to Lafayette Christian on Friday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ezekiel Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jude Easterling, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wiregrass). They put the hurt on East Central HomeSchool with a sharp 23-9 victory on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Kaden Martin made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Wiregrass got a massive performance out of Zach Crisler, who went 5-for-6 with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI. Crisler has become a key player for the Kings: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Owen Brown, who went 4-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases.
Wiregrass was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .521. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Wiregrass' record is now 6-8. As for Ezekiel Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.
Ezekiel Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Wiregrass in their previous meeting back in March, winning 8-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
