Baseball Game Preview: First Flight Nighthawks vs. Camden County Bruins

For the second straight game, First Flight will face off against Camden County. First Flight will be playing at home against Camden County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. First Flight is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

First Flight fell victim to Camden County and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bruins, falling 10-0. The Nighthawks' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

For Camden County's part, not much got past Bradley Elias, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep First Flight off the board. Elias also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Camden County is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Trot Pipkin was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Cooper Lewin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Camden County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as First Flight only posted an OBP of .182.

Camden County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for First Flight, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. First Flight has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Camden County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.2 strikeouts.
