The Jasper County Hurricanes will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. Jasper County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Prince Avenue Christian is ranked 31st).
After a string of three wins, Jasper County's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Social Circle by a score of 23-21.
Defeat or not, Jasper County got some senior leadership from Josiah Cotterell who picked up 135 receiving yards and two touchdowns and Chevy Sands who threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Cotterell's longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards.
Meanwhile, Prince Avenue Christian can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Oglethorpe County 49-0 on the road.
Aaron Philo got back to being his usual excellent self, as he threw for 388 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Hudson Hill was another key contributor, picking up 109 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Social Circle's victory pushed their record up to 3-5, while Jasper County's loss dropped theirs down to 5-3.
Jasper County took a serious blow against Prince Avenue Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 62-6. Thankfully for Jasper County, Bailey Stockton (who picked up 154 receiving yards and four touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
