It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Highlands Ranch Falcons ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 69-66 win over Ponderosa. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Payton TerEick was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. George West III was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five assists.
Despite the loss, Ponderosa still got an impressive performance from Noah Wilhelm, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds. Wilhelm's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Dylan Karsteter, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Highlands Ranch's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Ponderosa, they dropped their record down to 12-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highlands Ranch will face off against Mountain Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mountain Vista's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for Ponderosa, they will head out on the road to challenge Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Heritage focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
