Central Kitsap has gone a perfect 6-0 against Lincoln recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will square off against the Abes at 6:00 p.m. Central Kitsap is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Lincoln will be up against a hot Central Kitsap team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Cougars walked away with a 7-3 victory over North Thurston on Saturday.
Coral Howell and Ari Linder dominated on the mound. Howell pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Linder tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Linder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ava Day and Alex Berg did most of the damage at the plate: Day went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Berg got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lincoln gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Bellarmine Prep by a score of 20-15.
Lincoln got a massive performance out of Kaydence Pugh, who fired off three triples, five RBI, and three runs while going 6-for-5. Those five RBI gave Pugh a new career-high. Joy Wilde was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs.
Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .551. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Central Kitsap pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Central Kitsap hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .399. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Central Kitsap's way against Lincoln in their previous matchup back in March, as Central Kitsap made off with a 13-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
