The St. Francis Spartans will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Hinsdale South Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully St. Francis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
St. Francis unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of IC Catholic Prep. The game was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but St. Francis was outscored by IC Catholic Prep in the second.
Despite the defeat, St. Francis got a solid performance out of Riley Austin, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds. Austin scored a full 28.1% of St. Francis' points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dolly Smith, who scored 7 points.
Meanwhile, Hinsdale South entered their tilt with Berwyn/Cicero Morton with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Everything went Hinsdale South's way against Berwyn/Cicero Morton on Saturday as Hinsdale South made off with a 52-32 win. Given Hinsdale South's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Berwyn/Cicero Morton is ranked 374th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Hinsdale South, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
