The Stockdale Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Independence Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Stockdale has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while the Falcons will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Friday, Stockdale came up short against the Titans and fell 55-45. While losing is never fun, Stockdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 536th, while the Titans are ranked 253rd).
Meanwhile, Independence earned a 55-43 victory over the Royals on Saturday.
Stockdale has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season. As for Independence, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Stockdale strolled past the Falcons in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 60-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stockdale since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
