The Shawnee Renegades will challenge the Pennsauken Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Things were looking good for Shawnee after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They and Cherokee were almost perfectly matched up, but the Renegades suffered a 22-21 defeat. The Renegades haven't had much luck with the Chiefs recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Shawnee might have lost, but man, Tyler Nickles was a machine: he rushed for 99 yards and one TD, and also picked up 34 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Pennsauken came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points), and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Tigers to the tune of 27-0. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 20 points or more this season.
Shawnee better keep an eye on Randall Blount. He was instrumental in Pennsauken's win, rushing for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Blount was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
One reason for the win was Pennsauken's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. In that department, Alex Parker was the leader with three. Joshua Williams got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Pennsauken's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Shawnee, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Shawnee has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pennsauken struggles in that department as they've been averaging 169.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Shawnee didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Pennsauken in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 35-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Renegades since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
