There's no place like home for Cedar Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Timpview Thunderbirds on Friday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. Considering the Aviators have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Makaylee Barnes made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Alexis Jenson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Eva Okusi was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Cedar Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. They are 9-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
With the win, Cedar Valley broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-11. As for Timpview, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16.
