The Fleming County Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rowan County Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fleming County will be looking to keep their 17-game home win streak alive.
Even though Fleming County has not done well against Mason County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way two weeks ago. Fleming County skirted past Mason County 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Rowan County earned a 60-47 win over Lewis County on Wednesday. Given Rowan County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Lewis County is ranked 192nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rowan County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colby Wilburn, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Wilburn has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 13 times he's played. Brayden Mirus was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Fleming County's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Rowan County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
Fleming County didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Rowan County in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 35-29 victory.
