The Collins Titans will venture away from home to face off against the Anderson County Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Collins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Collins made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Shelby County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Titans fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 10-8 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Titans have suffered since April 20, 2024.
Breanna Morris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered nine runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Brooke Peterman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Bermudez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anderson County). They put the hurt on Spencer County with a sharp 22-2 win on Wednesday. The Bearcats haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Molly Wooldridge, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and three doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Faith McGregor, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
Anderson County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Anderson County's record now sits at 17-5. As for Collins, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.
Collins couldn't quite get it done against Anderson County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 18-14. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
