The Almond-Bancroft Eagles will challenge the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Almond-Bancroft is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Almond-Bancroft's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Rosholt as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by nine runs or more this season.

Riya Ceballos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Ceballos was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Mya Dernbach and Aaliyah Newby did most of the damage at the plate: Dernbach went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Newby went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Newby has posted since back in April. Lexi Carlton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Almond-Bancroft kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosholt only managed one hit.
Marathon hit Iola-Scandinavia with a ten-run first inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Thunderbirds lost 13-3 to the Red Raiders.
Iola-Scandinavia saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlotte Isermann, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Almond-Bancroft is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Iola-Scandinavia, they dropped their record down to 10-12 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Almond-Bancroft came out on top in a nail-biter against Iola-Scandinavia when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Thunderbirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
