Basketball Game Preview: Pollok Central Bulldogs vs. Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves

Pollok Central has gone 9-1 against Pineywoods Community Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Pollok Central Bulldogs will take on the Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves at 7:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Last Friday, Pollok Central humbled Newton with a 59-21 victory. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 590th, while the Eagles are ranked 1612th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jake Matthews and Wyatt Graham were among the main playmakers for Pollok Central as the former went 6 for 10 en route to 15 points and five steals and the latter went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Matthews is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Putnam, who posted seven points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Pineywoods Community Academy didn't have too much trouble with Newton on Tuesday as they won 47-32.

Pineywoods Community Academy is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Pollok Central, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-10.

Pollok Central didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Pineywoods Community Academy when the teams last played on January 7th, but they still walked away with a 54-49 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pollok Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
