Falcon has gone a perfect 4-0 against Mitchell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Falcons will challenge the Marauders at 3:00 p.m. Mitchell took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Falcon, who comes in off a win.
Falcon had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Pueblo Central on Tuesday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 8-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.
Brayden Millikan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Ethan Gentz was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Martinez, who scored three runs and stole two bases.
Falcon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Mitchell didn't have quite enough to beat Ellicott on Tuesday and fell 16-14.
Mitchell got a massive performance out of Mason Cherrie, who scored four runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Tyreece Roberts was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Falcon pushed their record up to 6-3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Mitchell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Falcon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mitchell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Falcon took their victory against Mitchell when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
