Volleyball Game Preview: Strom Thurmond Rebels vs. Batesburg-Leesville Panthers

The Strom Thurmond Rebels will square off against the Batesburg-Leesville Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Strom Thurmond is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Ninety Six just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to the Wildcats.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Ninety Six scored at least 18 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Strom Thurmond had strong showings from Jules Sides, who had 14 digs, and Mollie Bartley, who had five digs and one assist. Sides has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Batesburg-Leesville challenged Saluda on Thursday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Tigers. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Batesburg-Leesville walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-14, 25-21, 25-16.

Strom Thurmond's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Batesburg-Leesville, their victory bumped their record up to 16-18-1.
